The first Timpson shop opened in 1865 in Butler street, Manchester and is now a large countrywide chain of stores offering not only shoe repair services but badges, letter boxes, house & business names/signs, lighters, memorials, trophies, pet tags, engravable gifts to name but a few. The company is currently developing new service areas such as locksmiths, jewellery repair and clothing alterations.
